Fairfax: 3 bedroom 3 bath townhome in planned community 25 miles due west of Washington, DC.

Home Description:
Our townhome is 3 levels, 3 bedrooms (2 singles, l kingsize bed), 2.5 baths; completely equipped kitchen, living/dining area; lower level laundry room, den, playroom (with lots of toys!) walk-out to back yard with patio and large playset. We have cable TV, VCR, computer and free internet access, and computer games; small selection of CD's, portable stereo, plenty of books of all types. Our house is at the end of the row, and set back, so it is private. My car, Toyota, automatic, seats four comfortably for five not so comfortably, is available for exchange also. There is a pool, tennis courts, playground, walking/bike path all within a five minute walk of the house; parkland and a brook (also fun to play in) behind the house.

The Area:
We live 25 miles from two very interesting and completely different cities: Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA. Both are easy to reach - a 30 minute drive. In the Virginia countryside are many historic homes -- Mount Vernon (my favorite), Gunston Hall, Woodlawn, Oatlands to name a few, and great natural beauty - Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Mountains. There are lots of rustic areas for hiking, camping, fishing and picknicking; a paved bike path that runs for 50 miles to the foot of the mountains; rivers for rafting, or canoeing, and an enormous water fall (Great Falls) for gazing at to ponder the incredible power of God in nature. Further afield are the restored colonial towns of Williamsburg and Jamestown, and many, many battlefields from the Civil and Revolutionary Wars. The Atlantic Ocean is 175 miles away -- you can see the wild ponies at Chincoteague. Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, and Charlottesville are 2 hours away in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, and antiquing is a popular pastime here, and an excellent way to see small Virginia towns.

Other Particulars:
We have a Toyota Corolla (automatic) for exchange, bicycles, basketballs, footballs, croquet set, Legos (by the ton), boy and girl toys, swings and play loft on the backyard playset. No smoking please, in the house or the car. We have no pets at present, but are all animal lovers and will be glad to care for your pets.

Our Preferred Destination:
England, but not London

Dates of Exchange:
August
