Ottawa: Beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom quiet suburban bungalow. Enjoy many attractions and outstanding natural beauty of the Nation's Capital.
Home Description:
Our 40 year old 2200 sq. ft. bungalow home has been lovingly renovated over the years. It offers a charmingly comfortable air conditioned living experience and sits on an attractively landscaped lot opening onto a natural treed meadow with a walking trail.. The south facing expansive rear window wall provides a clear view of the meadow and brightens up the open concept living, dining and kitchen area. The large upstairs bathroom has a two sink vanity and a relaxing 6 ft. Jacuzzi tub. We have 3 bedrooms upstairs (one is currently used as a den) and another bedroom and bathroom with shower downstairs.
The Area:
This is Canada's National Capital Region. As such, the city is beautifully landscaped with flower beds along tree lined parkways and the Rideau Canal. Tour boats traverse the canal and the Ottawa River and in the winter the canal is turned into the world's longest skating rink. We enjoy a rich assortment of Festivals at all seasons of the year. There is much to experience at the many National Museums, Theatres, sporting events, etc. in the area. This area also offers excellent skiing facilities for beginner and expert alike either for day trips or overnight ski packages.
We are only 2 hours away from Montreal and 6 hours from Quebec City, which offer an exciting introduction to the French culture of Quebec.
Other Particulars:
Our Honda Accord sedan is available for use. We have a patio with furniture and a barbecue out back. Inside, we have a sound system, VCR , and wood stove. Also, skis, golf clubs, etc. should they fit. Of interest, we have an apartment downstairs and our tenants are available to answer any questions you may have on the spot. Our daughter lives only 3 blocks away and can look after any problems should they occur. Our house is non-smoking. We have a cat.
Our Preferred Destination:
Open for suggestions with preference for Australia or New Zealand.
Dates of Exchange:
For Australia or New Zealand a period of 1 to 3 months in 2005/6 would be great. Otherwise, open.
Who We Are:
We are a retired young couple pushing 70 years. We raised 3 beautiful girls in this house who are now on their own. Betty was a public school teacher and homemaker. She is greatly interested in painting and crafts. Don is a mechanical engineer. He spends his time keeping things ship-shape and playing golf and curling. We both do a little skiing. Our greatest interest is serving Christ and are active in our local Pentecostal Church.
