The Area:
Our houseboat is moored in the picturesque medieval town of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, on the junction between the Rivers Avon and Severn, giving access to many miles of British waterways. The town is home to a famous 11th century Abbey and the first and smallest Baptist Church in the UK. Tewkesbury is about 10 miles from Regency Cheltenham Spa and is about 40 miles from Bath, Oxford, Bristol, Birmingham (International Airport)and Stratford-On-Avon. London is about 90 miles away and easily accessed by car or public transport. Tewkesbury is very friendly and has a twice weekly market, swimming pool and cinema / arts centre. The coast is about 45 miles away. The area is lovely for walking and has many picturesque villages. We attend a small and very friendly local chapel and a housegroup once a week which you would be very welcome to go to.
Other Particulars:
The marina is well equipped with excellent shower facilities and laundry. All the marina staff are very friendly and will bend over backwards to help. If you would like to take the boat out and about then we do request a short lesson with my father who knows the vessel well. For safety reasons there is no smoking on board.
Our Preferred Destination:
California, USA
We would like to explore the US West Coast and are looking for somewhere we could use as a base.
Dates of Exchange:
July - september 05.
Who We Are:
We are Mike and Kim. We have been married for nearly a year and have been enjoying married life living on our houseboat on the idyllic River Severn. Kim works in Cheltenham as a graphic designer and Mike is an artist with a studio based in Tewkesbury. We are both involved with leading a youth group in our chapel for unchurched children on a housing estate.
