Chengdu (Province of Sichuan): First floor apartment with a nice view in gated building in west central Chengdu, a city of over 10 million.
Home Description:
Chengdu is the gateway to Tibet and the Tibetan areas of Sichuan province--Kham: Ganzi and Aba prefectures. We have San Xing Dui nearby, as well as some other sites to visit. Lots to do in the area.
Walking/biking distance to a large Metro (German) store with lots of western foods, etc. Restaurants in the neighborhood: hotpot, medicinal roots, dumplings, noodles, and more upscale offerings. Western restaurants about $3 by cab away. Apartment is near Zhong Yi Xue Yuan, the Traditional Medicine University, Xinan Minzu Xue Yuan, the Minorities University, and a big "antiques" and amusing things market.
Sichuan is still more of the "real China" than the southeast and it's easy to bike out to villages, etc.
We would leave cards, etc. so that folks could find things and get around easily.
The Area:
Two churches in Chengdu and one in GuangHan that we frequent.
Could put you in touch with folks at the church or seminary.
Wen Hua GongYuan (Culture Park) nearby with bumper cars, artificial lake, old Taoist temple, etc.
Swimming pools available at apartment complexes or public pools or hotel pools.
Other Particulars:
Wireless computer, no smoking, one bike at the moment, two DVD players, pizza oven, freezer, washing machine. Use whatever is here. It's adequate for us, so . . . . . .
